Measuring 6’4” at age fifteen comes with its share of problems…especially in the clothing department.
Brandon Sugarman was expected to try out for his high school varsity soccer team but faced a familiar issue – he’d outgrown his cleats, yet again !! Being a hoarder by nature, Brandon searched his closet for a pair that might just fit but his collection which dated back to 4th Grade didn’t hold the answer – he had no choice but to shop for yet another pair of $ 100+ cleats.
Then it hit him – what about all of the pairs he already had – he’d only worn most of them for a season: there must be loads of other kids out there who could use them ! And that was when Free-Kicks was born. This nonprofit aims to recycle cleats between kids in a sustainable and cost-effective way. Free-Kicks fundraising is used to meet the cost of postage and cleats distribution.
Brandon Sugarman is a high school student in Carpinteria, CA. He has been playing AYSO, All-Stars and Varsity soccer since he was eight years old.
